We are excited to announce our 2 newest team members, Duy Nguyen and Matthew Brady. Duy Nguyen and Matthew Brady are joining GiveSignup as part of the software engineering co-op.
To welcome Duy and Matthew to our team and to give them the opportunity to tell their stories, we spent time learning more about them both personally and professionally. Read on to get to know Duy and Matthew!
Duy Nguyen
What are you most looking forward to in joining the GiveSignup team?
I have a lot of experience doing backend development which I hope to further grow at GiveSignup, but I also hope to work on front end projects and transition towards being a full stack developer.
Where are you from, and where do you currently reside?
I am from Pennsauken, New Jersey. I currently still live in Pennsauken.
Please tell us a little more about your background.
I am currently a Junior studying Computer Science at Rowan University. In my past experience, I worked as an intern for Subaru of America where I worked primarily on backend development.
Tell us about your hobbies and interests, and what you like to do for fun outside of work.
Outside of work and school, I love to play volleyball. I have been playing since I was 14 and have played for a variety of teams, both teams from South Jersey and Philadelphia. I try to live a very active lifestyle. I like to spend most of my free time outside, going for walks, hiking, or playing sports.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I have played almost every position in volleyball.
Matthew Brady
What will some of your responsibilities be?
I will be responsible for completing coding assignments in PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript. I will be responsible for testing software, participating in team meetings, and working as a member of a team.
Where are you from, and where do you currently reside?
I grew up in Washington Township, NJ and currently live in Glassboro, NJ.
Please tell us a little more about your background.
I worked on a research project at Rowan University creating a note taking software for caretakers of adults with autism. This gave me experience in creating both a web app and a mobile app. I gained skills in SQL, JavaScript, and overall web development working on this project.
Tell us about your hobbies and interests, and what you like to do for fun outside of work.
I enjoy watching sports and going to games. I’m a fan of the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
My sophomore year of college I had a raccoon living in my bedroom wall
