Fundraising Events (Ep. 9): Transitioning to a Fundraising Event

In this episode of Fundraising Events, Bryan Jenkins is joined by Juli Kunselman of Lifeline of Ohio, a nonprofit organization that helps facilitate the donation of human organs and tissue for transplantation, helping to save and heal lives in Central and Southeastern Ohio. Its premier event, Dash for Donation, which has been held both in-person and virtually, raises money for organ and tissue donation. The event coming up on July 10 through July 17 marks its 22nd event.

Primarily, those dollars go to support our donor families and our aftercare and bereavement services that we provide. We have a two-year program that we provide to our donor families and an aftercare program… with grief resources and events and support materials that may help them after they have lost a loved one. But also, the fundraising dollars go toward providing education to the public about organ and tissue donation. So, with those funds, we can do more.Juli Kunselman

Join our conversation as we learn more about Dash for Donation and how Lifeline of Ohio has taken its signature event and transitioned it from a brand awareness event into a fundraising event, as well as uncover:

  • How the fundraising dollars from the event support the organization’s donor families
  • Whether high-event participation correlates with increased brand awareness
  • The pros of encouraging friendly competition amongst fundraising teams with incentives
  • The benefits of offering participants with fundraising and social media toolkits
  • And more!

When we started fundraising, we wanted to provide participants with information and resources on how to grow their team, how to grow their fundraising and host fundraising events… As part of it, we even have a social media toolkit that has sample posts and graphics, and we have posters that people can use to advertise within their communities. It’s been really fun for us to create and find creative ways to share with our teams and our captains and participants, but also a really good resource for everybody to use as well.Juli Kunselman
