Welcome Summer Interns 2021

This year, we are welcoming eight interns from across the country who will be joining us for what is shaping up to be a busy season. The company’s robust internship program includes positions in multiple departments with the opportunity to provide significant contributions to our mission, as well as relevant experience for students. Over the years, many of our interns have gone on to graduate and start their careers right here at GiveSignup | RunSignup!

Meet the New Interns

Alyssa Vega

Inside Sales

Alyssa is joining the GiveSignup | RunSignup team this summer as an inside sales intern. While pursuing her degree in marketing communication and analytics at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Alyssa also volunteers in the Richmond community with the nonprofit, Red Door Ministries, and is the accountability chair for Business Student Ambassadors. She previously interned at Peace of Mind Counseling analyzing website data and traffic, and mentored elementary students at a local school in Richmond.

Audrey Schultz

Account Management

Audrey is joining GiveSignup | RunSignup as one of two account management interns this summer. Audrey is a rising senior at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, where she is majoring in economics, with a minor in international business. In the winter of 2019/2020, Audrey studied abroad in Italy. Her experiences studying abroad helped her focus on economics and international business. She was previously the campus manager at the Greek House in Blacksburg.

Chelsea Crisp

Development

Chelsea started working with the RaceDay team in Florida in early May. She completed her bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Central Florida in May 2021 and also has a degree in recording arts from Indiana University. She is already developing cool features on the RaceDay Scoring system and will continue with mobile app development with the team.

Chelsea grew up in Indiana but has now lived in Florida for nine years and is happy to call it home. She loves being outside, running and exercising, her dogs, and spending time with friends and family. Chelsea is also HAM radio extra class licensed and a member of the Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Society. Coding started out as a hobby for her, and she is extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to turn it into a new career.

Eric Harris

Finance

Eric joins us again in the Moorestown, New Jersey, office as a financial analyst intern after first working with us back in 2019. He graduated with his master’s in accountancy from Wake Forest in May 2021 and will be starting full-time at PWC in the fall.

Eric has participated in a local race (Bob just so happens to be the race director), the Scott Coffee Rotary Run. He’s a big fan of Philadelphia sports and enjoys watching Game of Thrones.

Katie Atherton

Account Management

Katie is joining GiveSignup | RunSignup as one of two account management interns this summer. Katie is a rising senior at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, where she is majoring in hospitality and tourism management, with a minor in professional sales. She is a board member with the nonprofit, K5K: A Run for Kendra, and volunteers with the NEDA walk in Virginia Beach. Katie has a passion for dogs and she loves the beach.

Laura Bucchieri

Development

Laura will be joining as a development intern contributing to projects across both RunSignup and GiveSignup. She is a rising junior at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in computer science. No stranger to the running scene, Laura represents her school as a varsity track and field athlete. Laura volunteers her time at the nonprofit, Girls Who Code, mentoring middle-school girls with programming projects. She also volunteers with a university organization called LIVE (Leaders in Interpersonal Violence Education), whose mission is to promote healthy relationships and prevent interpersonal violence. Laura is going to fit right in, enjoying hiking, yoga and other outdoor activities.

Lucas LaValva

Development

Luke will be coming on board as a development intern working on the GiveSignup team. Luke comes to us from Rowan University, where he is pursuing degrees in computer science and mathematics, with a minor in sociology. Luke is joining with previous software engineering experience that he gained from opportunities at Rowan, as well as the private sector. He is an active rock climber and hiker hitting the rock climbing gym three times per week. He is an avid reader just completing the book “Other Minds” by Peter Godfrey-Smith. Luke is from a beach town in New Jersey and will be working out of our Moorestown office. As an odd coincidence, Luke joined us with a nice head of hair on the very same day that another famous RunSignup developer cut all of his hair off. (The world is again in perfect balance here.)

Nathan Morrisson

Development

Nathan is representing the west coast joining as a development intern working out of his home in California on our new supporter engagement platform. After graduating high school valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA, he went on to complete his second year at Cal Poly, pursuing a degree in computer engineering. Nathan is a competitive runner, mountain bike racer, and holds a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is very involved in his running club at Cal Poly and races whenever he can. Looking back on his favorite projects, he once built his own keyboard from scratch. He happens to come as a high referral from another RunSignup Morrisson developer. Hopefully the home internet can handle all the bits these two will be busting out this summer.
