Fundraising Events (Ep. 7): Finding the Right Partner for Your Brand

Episode 7 of the Fundraising Events Podcast features Liz Wian of Girls on the Run. The established national program promotes girl empowerment by teaching life skills through lessons and running. This year, they shifted both their programming and fundraising events and created options that were flexible and dynamic.

Currently, as the world is shifting and changing is that we needed many options for our councils. Now our program offers in-person, virtual, and a “fluid’ that allows girls ebb in and out of virtual and in-person. And we took that same approach to our fundraising events…and re-envisioned what could be possible.

This conversation dives into the challenges and benefits of working with an event partner who wants to fundraise for your organization.

  • Finding alignment with an organization
  • The value of awareness with the right partner and taking advantage of new partners to get in front of a new audience
  • Using incentives to encourage peer-to-peer fundraising to expand your reach

What we learned was that the community of Gordy’s Run and our Girls on the Run stakeholders were beautifully aligned. What resulted was phenomenally successful both in terms of dollars raised and in terms of bringing new individuals into our organizations as coaches, as volunteers, as parents who registered their girl into the program. There was so much we could accomplish with this partnership, and it really shined a light on how important it is to find alignment in a partner.Liz Wian
